Description
A wonderful natural arch around 15 meters high, the result of the marine erosion of an ancient limestone cave. The arch encloses a tract of sea which therefore remains very often calm and warmer.
The beach is very small and can be reached after walking along a very nice 200 meters paved road, then going down some quite steep stairs (30 m) and going through some rounded rocks for 50 meters.You can also stop on these rocks which are quite comfortable, but it is difficult to place the beach umbrella.
It must be said that there is also another beach, just below the village of S’Archittu, but is it much less fascinating: don’t miss the right one!
Perfect for
Those who love snorkelling and especially for those who love diving from high places (it is possible to dive from different heights over the arch).
Beach features
Medium coarse-grained sand with many stones; the beach slopes down rather quickly and entering in the sea there are stones. There might be some sea urchins, but in general it is not necessary to wear water shoes.
Services
No bathing facilities;
possibility to rent canoes; bars, restaurants and pizzerias on the seafront of the village of S’Archittu;
free but small car parking.
Some services are limited to some specific seasonal periods.
Directions
From Oristano, head North following the route SS 292 towards Cuglieri. After about 25 km, you will enter the village of S’Archittu. Follow the signs to the arch and park the car.
Then walk the paved road which is on the right side of the village.
Useful informations
This tract of sea is quite sheltered in windy conditions. Considering the size of the beach, in July and August is it often very crowded.
Possible difficulties with the mobile phone reception.
