Description
Large and broad beach in the Gulf of Oristano, delimited on one side by the mouth of River Tirso, and on the other side by a beautiful touristic little harbour.
The suburb of Torregrande, named after the old Spanish tower (the biggest in Sardinia), is a very appreciated summer residential area but it is also quite popular during sunny days all year round.
The seafront promenade is closed to traffic; it’s a perfect place for children to play, riding bicycles and roller skates during the day, and for a nice walk having a look at the stalls or stopping in the various bars during the evening. Not far away from Torregrande you’ll also find two discos.
Different events take place in this township during spring and summer: concerts, the summer “Sartiglietta”, a traditional happening that takes place in the evening of August 15th, “Il maggio della torre”: every Sunday in May there is an exhibition on traditional themes, like ceramics, culinary products and local organic products; last but not least there is the ”Open water challenge Oristano” an opportunity for professionals and amateurs who love Windsurfing, Kitesurfing, S.U.P. Paddle Marathon and water-boarding in general.
